ZIPZIP

Dean Quinn SS12.

I lost my head and heart to this young designer’s graduate collection in Spring last year, and I’m delighted to see that the follow up is equally unusual and yet again, retro-inspired.

I love the way he’s taken one simple, familiar device – the zip – and manipulated it to create such different looks: ultra glam slits, gladiator-esque skirts and space age hemlines.

I also like that he’s retained the intergalactic drama of his debut collection, with floor length dresses, a retro colour palette and striking panelling still a dominant visual theme.
